200A Panel Upgrades

Modern electrical service for EV charging, heat pumps and renovations.

200A Panel Upgrade

Why Upgrade to 200A?

Many homes in the Lower Mainland were built with 60A or 100A services that were never designed for EV chargers, heat pumps and today’s appliance loads. A 200A service gives you room to safely add new equipment without constantly worrying about tripping breakers.

What’s Included in a 200A Upgrade

We handle the full upgrade process throughout Coquitlam, Vancouver, Surrey and the surrounding area. That typically includes assessing your existing service, coordinating with the utility as required, installing a new panel and meter base, tidying existing circuits and arranging Technical Safety BC inspections. All work is completed to current electrical code.

Signs You May Need a 200A Upgrade

  • Adding an EV charger (Level 2)
  • Installing a heat pump or central AC
  • Renovation increases power demand
  • 100A panel is full or frequently tripping
  • Insurance or lender requires updated service

Permits & Inspections

Service and panel upgrades in BC require a Technical Safety BC permit and inspection. We submit permit applications, book inspection times and complete any corrections requested so the upgrade is fully approved. You don’t need to coordinate with multiple parties—we handle it for you.

When do I need a 200A panel upgrade?

You may need a 200A upgrade if you’re adding an EV charger, heat pump, hot tub or suite, or if your existing panel is frequently tripping or completely out of breaker space. During a site visit we can confirm whether 200A is required or if other options exist.

How long does a 200A panel upgrade take?

Most residential upgrades are completed within a day, with power shut‑off limited to a planned window. Scheduling with the utility and inspections can add lead time, but we outline timelines clearly before work starts.

Do I need a permit for a panel upgrade?

Yes. Panel and service upgrades always require a permit and inspection in BC. Our quotes include permit fees and we take care of submitting and closing out the permit with Technical Safety BC.
